NYC Apartment Tour – Living Room

Hello & welcome to part-two of our NYC apartment tour!

I am so excited to share our New York City living room. It’s my favorite place in the entire apartment (okay, there’s only one other room.. but you get the point lol), and we’re so happy with the way it came together.

We wanted to focus on picking out pieces that fit both of our styles and that we could enjoy for a very long time. When we moved in together for the first time this past August, we both started from scratch. Next time we move, we’ll be using movers, so we wanted to invest in pieces that we could still love years from now.

When it comes to living in an apartment (especially a studio or one-bedroom), it can be hard to find the best uses for space. A lot of our pieces were purchased to create more storage and space. For example, our kitchen island has a lot of storage and serves as a substitute for a kitchen table, our clothing rack creates space to hang our heavy coats on instead of taking up room in our closet, our media console has drawers for storage, etc.

Curating a single room that serves as a living room, kitchen, and office is not an easy task. This is the room we both spend the most time in (especially me because I work full-time from home), so we wanted it to be a functional space that we could feel productive, creative, and relaxed in. Between shipping delays and being intentional with our decor/furniture shopping, it took months for our place to finally come together. When it comes to moving into a new apartment – especially if you are starting with nothing – filling it with furniture and decor can be a daunting, time-consuming, and expensive process. Take your time and focus on finding things that you 100% love and will get a lot of joy from.

Without further ado, here is our apartment tour:

CB2 cement coffee table, West Elm rug 8×10

faux leather bar stool set, CB2 marble island

CB2 placemats, volcano candle, CB2 fluted vase

On a recent farmer’s market outing with one of my girl friends, we both picked up these dried flowers. They last a year!

waffle dish towel

CB2 paper towel holder, knife block, CB2 matte container

bowls

side plates

drinking glasses

Simple Human trash can

West Elm office chair, CB2 black floor lamp

CB2 floor mirror

wooden hangers, West Elm clothing rack

black bar car

CB2 cocktail kit (no longer available)

CB2 media console, West Elm slope chair

Restoration Hardware cloud couch, CB2 velvet pillow (no longer available), blanket

We went back and forth on couches for weeks and ultimately decided to invest in the Restoration Hardware cloud couch. It does live up to the hype and is SO comfortable. The only con is that it does lose it’s shape very easy, and I find myself ‘fluffing’ it all the time.

CB2 cement side table, light therapy lamp, fake fiddle plant, CB2 coasters

Barefoot Dreams blanket

CB2 floor lamp

CB2 clear tray, Byredo candle, CB2 black marble sphere, cube puzzle

West Elm slope chair, fringe pillow

artificial fig tree

We decided to get a fake tree for our apartment, so I purchased the same exact one I had back in San Francisco. To fill the pot, we used newspaper and soil.

CB2 square planter

CB2 5×7 clear picture frame

CB2 vase trio, CB2 bookends

fake snake plant

We purchased this fake plant on Amazon. It’s nice because it comes in the stand already, so you don’t have to worry about finding a planter/soil.
