“Color is a power which directly influences the soul” – Wassily Kandinsky
Why have only one pop of color when you can have two three? I am a fan of color, as we all know by now, so I definitely stand firm behind the fact that colors have a lot of power. I’ve always found it so interesting that the colors we wear can really convey specific qualities and feelings. Color psychology is incredibly fascinating. For example, yellow conveys happiness and optimism, and it always puts me in such a good mood.
When I was getting dressed for dinner, I didn’t stop with just one splash of color. I threw on a turquoise statement necklace to add a little something to my favorite solid shift dress. To finish the colorful look off, I added my go-to pink heels for a slightly obnoxious, but oh-so-fun, saturated outfit. Because the outfit itself is pretty bright, I kept my hair, makeup, and bag understated to balance things out.

Let’s talk about this dress for a second. For me personally, when I really love a piece, I will purchase it in more than one color. I am now a proud owner of this dress in three colors, and I couldn’t this little frock enough. I wore mine all summer for work, and it was such a great versatile piece for my internship to pair with flats and heels. This dress was by far my most worn piece this summer for work, and it’s something I am glad to have in my closet. Here is how you could style this dress for work:
neverfull tote bag + tory burch flats
This dress is also incredibly flattering. With a pear shaped body, it can be difficult to find shifts that work. However, this one is fantastic! For reference, I got this dress in an XS. I do think it runs true to size! It’s also under $50 and comes in several amazing hues. The ‘pink blossom’ color is definitely next on my wish-list. I will mention that this dress in yellow is a bit on the sheer side, so make sure you wear something nude underneath like this racerback pullover bra. However, I have not any problems with the darker colors I own!
Not only is the dress perfect for work, but it’s great for anything and everything in between from brunch with the gals to graduation. Here is how I would style this shift for either of those outings:
tassel earrings + wrap around wedges
I hope you had a wonderful weekend, friends!
