There is nothing I love more than the beach. Every Christmas, my family heads to Maui for some rest & relaxation. For the past six years or so we have stayed at the Ritz Kapalua, which I absolutely love. This year we decided to do something different and book a room at the Montage. We have been absolutely loving every second of this gorgeous resort so far. My sister and I decided to take a few quick pics near the ocean before enjoying an awesome dinner at Merriman’s– one of our family’s favorite restaurants on the island. I had fun being behind the camera and snapping some pictures of my sister twirling in this Free People dress [also featured here].  She paired the tunic dress with brown lace up sandals and a simple necklace. For dinner, I wore a blue halter blouse paired with some flowy, black shorts. I also added some gold sandals as well. For my makeup, I decided to use my favorite lime green eyeshadow that is super glam and sparkly. I also added some ardell lashes just for something different! To finish it off, I went with Too Faced’s lipstick in the shade ‘Juicy Melons‘. It’s such a fun shade for the beach, and it definitely reminds me of summer time.

Follow me around this week on Maui by following my Snapchat (Mackenzieken) & my Insta (mackenziekmiller). Thank you so, so much for checking out my blog! I hope you all are having a great week!

Dress: Show Me Your Mumu | Kimono: Ivy Jane (similar) | Tights: Target | Booties: Prada (similar)

As we get closer to the end of 2015, it gets even chillier outside (even here in the south). Preparing for colder evenings is a piece of cake with the help of a few layers. To make this fun halter dress appropriate for nighttime, I added a fringe kimono, black tights, and tall, suede booties. If you wanted to dress it up even more, you could always opt for a bold lipstick like ‘Diva‘ or ‘Rebel‘. Both give a great vampy look that’s perfect for any night event!

I hope you enjoyed this little daytime/nighttime look (see the daytime version here)! Check back on Thursday for an exciting review of some awesome bath products that I have been trying out and absolutely loving! Thank you so much for checking out my blog. I hope y’all are having a fabulous weekend!

P.S. – Here is another suggestion of how to wear your favorite dress in the fall time. Pair a leather jacket, knee high boots, and a black clutch with your outfit to add something edgy and exciting for the night! Leather jackets are the perfect option if you want something a little warmer than a kimono. They also make you feel automatically cooler. These tall, suede boots will add extra warmth as well.

Dress | Cardigan (similar) | Booties | Necklace | Sunglasses

Business in the front, party in the back. Your favorite dress has to be that perfect combination of classy and fun, and the Katy Halter dress is no exception. Show Me Your Mumu stopped my Sorority house last Friday for a trunk show. I had such a fun time trying on everything and playing dress up. I was, of course, unable to stop myself from picking up my favorite dress in one of their exclusive college tour prints. The red and blue pattern makes for the perfect gameday dress.

I am a strong believer in investing in versatile pieces- those go-to dresses, skirts, shorts, and tops that you find yourself constantly reaching for. At first glance, you would assume this is not a fall time dress whatsoever. However, with the help of some layering, it becomes ready for those chilly, autumn afternoons. There is something so special about the Katy Halter Dress. It’s also so incredibly versatile, making it that perfect dress for church or a night out with the girls. I find myself wearing it year round and styling it in new ways each time. I’ve been wearing this halter dress all season with warm layers, and I am also throwing it in my suitcase for my upcoming trip to Maui.

I decided that it would be fun to style my favorite, little dress for both day and night. For daytime I paired it with a chunky, neutral cardigan, a long necklace and fringe booties. I threw on my favorite, sassy sunglasses as well (that are under $6!). I also plan on pairing the dress with a denim jacket and riding boots for casual fall days as well. This look is great for holiday shopping and even brunch with the family.

Thank you so much for checking out my blog. Also, big thanks to my favorite person, Layne, for taking these gorgeous photos (y’all can check her out on instagram at @layne_little).

Tunic | Clutch (similar) | Sunglasses (similar) | Earrings | Booties

Show Me Your Mumu makes the best tunics ever. The ‘Donna Michelle Tunic‘ is most definitely no exception. I fell in love when I saw this gorgeous kaleidoscope patterned tunic launch on their site a few weeks ago. I love the bold print, and that the colors work perfectly for both fall and spring. I paired it with my favorite fringe booties, gold clutch, cat eye sunglasses, and white tassel earrings. I definitely plan on purchasing a second ‘Donna Michelle Tunic’ in another pattern this season. It’s just so comfy and perfect for travel! I think the print ‘Water Moccasin‘ may be next on my list!

Tunic | Shorts | Sunglasses | Sandals | Bralette | Watch (c/o) | Beaded Bracelet

Hello, hello! This map print tunic is my new favorite top in my entire wardrobe. I love the bold colors and pattern, and I’ve never seen anything just like it. It was totally worth the splurge! I paired this map tunic with some simple white shorts, metallic sandals, bracelets, and my favorite stud sunglasses. I think the tunic would also look great paired with white jeans and neutral wedges for a night out. I’ve been really in love with my new watch from Daniel Wellington lately. It matches every outfit and has a very classic look. Y’all can use the code  ‘MACKENZIEKENN’ to get 15% off any product on their site (but only for the first 50 customers). I paired the watch with this super cute beaded cross bracelet that my friend, Wren, made. Each purchase from All Crossed Up comes with a bible verse, and 10% of the proceeds go to St. Judes Children’s Research Hosptial in Memphis, TN. She is so talented, and I love that her cute jewelry goes towards a great cause! Also, shoutout to my favorite person, Layne, for taking these photos! Y’all can check her out on instagram and twitter!

Hope you all are having a fabulous week!

August Favorites

Now that August is over, it’s time to share my favorites from the past month with y’all! August was such a busy month between moving out of my dorm in London, to moving back to Texas, to finally moving back to the sorority house at college. I am so glad life is starting to finally slow down a little, and that I am getting into the routine of things once more. Here are some things I have been loving this past month:

august

1. Blush | 2. Mascara | 3. Eye Pencil | 4. Moisturizer | 5. Eyeshadow Palette | 6. Lipstick | 7. Backpack | 8. Sunglasses | 9. Planner | 10. Tassel Earrings | 11. Watch (c/o) | 12. Co-ord Set | 13. Shorts | 14. Tunic | 15. Wedges

The Beauty Faves:

I picked up this gorgeous coral blush back in London. I purchased it previously a few years ago, and I remember really loving it. It’s that perfect blush for the end of summer because it looks nice with a tan. When I saw that Too Faced released a new eyeshadow palette called ‘Star Dust’, I ordered it right away (and even picked up one for my sister as well). The color selection is just stunning and the shadows are so pigmented and easy to blend. The palette is only sold on the Too Faced site and on Ulta. It also comes with a small size of their popular ‘Better Than Sex‘ mascara, which I’ve been using and loving. Another favorite eye product of the month has been the Jumbo Eye Pencils by NYX. I now have three, and I really enjoy using them as an eyeshadow base. My current favorite is ‘Pure Gold’ as I find it looks beautiful layered under gold and bronze powder eyeshadows. I also repurchased another La Creme lipstick in the shade ‘Naughty Nude’. I’ve always struggled with finding that perfect nude lip shade that won’t wash me out, but I finally discovered this holy grail product at Sephora last fall. I also ordered the lipstick in another shade called ‘Juicy Melons’, and I am super excited to try it out. As for skincare, I have been obsessed with this Clinique moisturizer gel. My skin has been very dry and angry because of my topical acne creams, but this gel based lotion has really helped clear up all of my dry patches without breaking out my skin. It can also be used as a moisture mask, which I think is really interesting. I will definitely repurchase another bottle when I run out!

The Fashion Faves:

I am in love with the brand Show Me Your Mumu, which I’m sure is not a surprise to y’all. I recently purchased one of their tunics in this gorgeous map print called ‘A Whole MU World’, and it such a unique piece (with a super cute name). The print couldn’t be any more perfect especially because I love travel! I usually pair this bold tunic with white shorts, but I think it will look awesome paired with white jeans and denim when it starts to get a little more chilly. I also picked up some more shorts and a co-ord set recently because they had an online sale- I just couldn’t resist! As for shoes, I have been living in these super tall, metallic wedges. I get so many compliments every time I wear them (and they are only $30!). I’ve also been loving my rockstud sunglasses. My mom found them at Nordstrom Rack a few months ago and gave them to me. They are super sassy, and I really like the cat eye frame! Speaking of sassy- I recently got some white tassel earrings that I’ve been wearing all the time. They are on the heavy side, but they are perfect for any nice occasion, gameday, or night out with the girls. My final fashion favorite for the month of August has been my Daniel Wellington watch. I love the classic look of this watch and the great quality. It matches any outfit! Y’all can also use the code ‘MACKENZIEKENN’ to get 15% off any Daniel Wellington product (but only for the first 50 customers)! If you’re looking for that perfect, classic watch, definitely check out DW.

The Random Faves:

Now that school has started again, I’ve been loving my new backpack and my planner. In the past I’ve always had Lilly Pulitzer and Kate Spade agendas. While I did love them a ton, I was dying to try something new. I discovered the Day Designer earlier this summer and knew it was ‘the one’. Target also sells the Day Designer, which is super exciting and affordable! It’s perfect because I can plan out every single hour of my day, and it helps me make my goals and stay on task. A school related post will be up later this week featuring my new planner, so keep your eyes out for that!

Honorable mentions:

For the month of August, I’ve been obsessed with the show True Detective. I finished the first season earlier this summer, and I am now on the second. It’s definitely a ‘must watch!’. I also recently finished Sex and the City, and I can’t remember the last time I loved a show so much. I know it’s a little late, but I’ve been reading the Lauren Conrad Beauty Book that my friend, Miranda, gave me to borrow. Lauren Conrad is one of my hugest inspirations, and I love everything that she does.

Now that I am back in the states, I have been trying to get back in to working out. I’ve been doing yoga for the past four to five years, and it has always been my passion. I took a break from yoga due to a hip problem, but now I am back doing what I love most. When I was in high school, I went to Sunstone Yoga Studio and loved it. Lots of the other members there used these yoga mat towels called ‘Yogitoes‘, and I always thought they looked super cool. They are quite pricey, so I always hesitated splurging. But I finally decided to buy one, and I really, really love it. They also come in such a fun variety of patterns and colors. I would highly recommend the Yogitoe towel mats for any yogis that love hot yoga.

Thank you so much for checking out my blog. Let me know what your August favorites were!

Top | Shorts | Earrings | Sandals

Hey y’all! This is a little #tbt outfit from London! I paired this bright red off the shoulder top with white shorts and cobalt earrings. I am going to be doing some more throwback outfits from London over the next few weeks!

I just wanted to apologize for being MIA these past few weeks or so. I have been so busy with moving back from London, moving back to college in the US, and getting settled in during my first week back for classes. More than anything, I am so ready to be back into a daily routine. I decided this week that I am actually go to apply to LSE to study abroad for an entire semester this upcoming spring. I had the most incredible two months at the London School of Economics, and I am dying to go back. I’m also considering King’s College because it is located in the same area as LSE and actually offers a spring semester. The study abroad program at my university does not offer a spring semester for LSE, so it is going to be difficult to jump through hoops and make it happen. However, I am very optimistic about the chance that it may fall in place and that I will have the opportunity to be back at my favorite school. I can make a post about my study abroad experience if that is something y’all would like to see!

As for this current semester, I am taking 3D art, art history, accounting 2, intro to marketing, and supply chain management. I am glad that I’m finally getting into classes for my major. I’m also living in the sorority house again this year, which I really, really love! Living in the sorority house my sophomore year was the most incredible experience, and I am so lucky that I get to live here again. I am planning on posting pictures of my room sometime next week! It’s really different from my room last year, but I’m glad I finally decided to switch things up.

I am sorry that I haven’t posted in a while. I am going to start posting regularly when I finally get a solid routine in place. I hope you all are having a fabulous week!

It’s official. These are the my favorite shorts I have ever owned. I’ve worn them over twenty times this summer (no exaggeration), which is pretty crazy. They pair perfectly with almost all of the tops in my wardrobe and are perfect for day or night. I also think they are really comfortable and flattering. Show Me Your Mumu has easily become one of my favorite brands over the past few months! I absolutely love their bold prints and fun florals.

Here are some other ways to style my favorite tropical-pattered shorts:

48 hours in Paris. In an incredible city like Paris, it can truly be hard to narrow down your exploration ‘wish list’  to 48 hours. Is two night really enough? My sister, Allie, and I headed off to France for the weekend to find out.

After running through London in the rain, we finally made it to our train just in time. About two hours later, we arrived in Paris. Even though our hotel was less than a five minute walk from the tube station, we managed to spend hours aimlessly wondering around the city at night to find it. Our hotel was called the Hotel du Louvre, a Hyatt Hotel. It was in a perfect location and was very nice. When we got to our hotel room, we spent a few hours digging on Pinterest and the internet to plan out our two full days in the city. We started by making a list of everything we wanted to see during our time in Paris, and then narrowed it down. Luckily for us, this wasn’t out first time in Paris. We have seen mostly everything, but we spent time deciding what we still had left to see and what we wanted to see again. I took a nice bubble bath, and then it was time to sleep.

The first morning we woke up pretty early to get a good start on our day. My friend, who recently studied abroad in Paris, told us to go to a restaurant called Angelina to try their hot chocolate. It was very chilly that morning, so we decided to head to the small restaurant to pick up some hot chocolate and a pastry before heading to the Louvre. The hot chocolate was very good, but very sweet/intense. We really enjoyed our pastry through! When we arrived at the Louvre, we waited in line for 20-30 minutes, which was a much shorter queue than we expected. Allie and I have been to the Louvre before, so we didn’t feel the need to spend hours exploring the huge museum. There were incredible artifacts and paintings, but we found it to be a little overwhelming. It is so hard to see the entire Louvre in just a few hours! We of course saw the Mona Lisa though, which is always fun. After we left the Louvre, we headed to the Champs-Elysees for some lunch and macaroons. We couldn’t resist picking up some crepes on the way though for a ‘pre-lunch snack’. We had a great time people watching at the Champs-Elysees while we enjoyed our lunch. However, the whole time we couldn’t stop talking about our excitement for our macaroon dessert! The line for Laduree macaroons was possibly longer than the line for the Louvre. I have to say it was definitely worth the wait though. We tried six different macaroon flavors, which were all incredibly delicious. My favorite was definitely the vanilla. Next was the Arc de Triomphe. We snapped a few pictures in front of the large arch, and then headed off to our next two destinations- the Espace Dali museum and the Sacre-Coeur. It was not the shortest walk to Espace Dali museum as it is located up on a hill. However, it was definitely number #1 on my Paris list because Salvador Dali is my very favorite artist. I really enjoyed seeing all of his beautiful watercolors, sculptures,  and sketches. I couldn’t resist buying another Dali book from the gift store on my way out. He’s such an interesting and incredible man, and I always enjoy learning more about him! I would highly, highly recommend the Espace Dali museum for any Dali fans! It’s worth the trip! We decided to check out the Sacred Heart Basilica of Montemarte (Sacre-Coeur) because it was less than five minutes away from Espace Dali. The Sacre-Coeur was so gorgeous! We decided not to go inside though for the sake of time. At this point we had already walked eleven miles, and my feet were killing me. We took a cab back to our hotel and found dinner near by. Allie has spaghetti, and I had some great risotto. After dinner we got some ice-cream and headed back to our hotel to get some rest after our long- but exciting- day!

I will be posting about our ‘last 24 hours in Paris’ tomorrow! (P.S. A lot of y’all asked on instagram about my outfit, and my top is from Topshop and my shorts are from Show Me Your Mumu!)

Thank you for checking out my blog!

Dress Show Me Your Mumu Wedges Jack Rogers  Earrings Kendra Scott

Every time I put on this fun, tropical dress, I instantly feel like I am back in Maui (which is pretty much my very favorite place on Earth). The halter, swingy fit of this Show Me Your Mumu dress is incredibly flattering and perfect for those hot summer evenings. I loved the ‘Katy Halter Dress’ so much, that I purchased another one in this wild print as well! I decided to pair it with some rose gold, hibiscus adorned wedges, and pearl statement earrings. For my lips, I went with a beige lipstick and a layered coral lipstick. I’ve also been playing around with my new Exhibit A blush, so I will definitely be reviewing this bold blush soon!

Hope you are having an awesome weekend!

xoxo
