Happy Wednesday! Do you ever have a specific piece in your closet that you love, but just haven’t worn yet? That piece for me was this amazing flutter sleeve dress. It sat in my closet for weeks and weeks before I finally found the opportunity to wear it. For a night out with friends, I paired it with my favorite lace up sandals and yellow sunnies. It also looks amazing with neutral booties for fall. Best part about this dress? It’s currently on sale! I hope you all are having a fantastic week so far!

Taylor and I met back in 5th or 6th grade (I can’t even remember because that seems so long ago), and we have been besties ever since. Taylor is one of those rare-gem kind of friends, always making me laugh and always having my back (and always putting up with me- even through my very scary middle school emo phase). It’s been such a blessing to have her in the Bay Area with me this summer. We’ve had so much fun exploring the city, trying new foods, and taking road trips. This past Saturday, our last Saturday together this summer (inserts crying face emoji), we took the train to the city to go on a brewery tour! A brewery tour was an idea that never crossed my mind, but when Taylor suggested it a few weeks, I though ‘why not? Yolo’.

Though I am not a huge beer fan myself, it was so interesting to see the beer making process. We toured the Anchor Brewing Company factory that recently celebrated their 120 year anniversary. We sampled several different beers and made some good memories. For our little outing, I wore a suede bodysuit, cold shoulder sweater, and printed skater skirt. All paired with my favorite black booties, of course. My outfit choice wasn’t exactly the smartest idea because it was freezing in the city, but luckily we were inside for the tour. I really love the bodysuit trend, surprisingly enough. It’s definitely out of my comfort zone, especially with this specific one being a little scandy. I’ve always been self conscious of my chest, but I’ve been trying to branch out this year and dive into plunging necklines. It’s always fun to try out new trends and experiment a little with fashion! I think this outfit would be perfect for a night out, especially paired with a leather jacket. Taylor rocked a bodysuit as well. All in all, it was a fun trip to SF. If you ever are in the Bay Area, brewery tours are a must do!

Day Trip to Monterey

Happy Monday! My dad flew into San Francisco this past Saturday to visit me/help me move out of my apartment. We took a short day trip to Monterey and Carmel, my dad’s favorite part of California. In Carmel, we explored the adorable town and checked out pretty much every single art gallery. After a lunch in Carmel, we headed to Monterey to check out the Dali exhibit. Salvador Dali is my very favorite artist, so it was amazing to see some of his original pieces in person.

For the trip, I wore my new favorite floral tunic (linked a similar pattern) paired with edgy, black booties. The weather here in California is just gorgeous all year. I am not sure how I am going to handle the Texas heat when I return home this weekend!

Little White Romper

Hello friends & happy Monday! I hope you had an amazing weekend. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to shoot with a local photographer named Baldwin. We had such a blast shooting pictures around the city, and I wanted to share a few of my favorites! Baldwin is beyond talented & you should definitely check out his instagram @baldwinner.

‘gimmie the guac’ tee (c/o) | white halter bralette (c/o)

I’ve always had the biggest love/hate relationship with going back to school at the end of every summer. However, the biggest ‘love’ aspect for me  has definitely been getting to go ‘back to school shopping’. I remember in high school, picking out a first day of school outfit was always something that got me super excited to wrap up summer!

Struggling to find the perfect ‘first day of school outfit’? You can’t go wrong with an easy summer-to-fall transition look. I paired this breezy, boho dress with a denim vest and booties- just to add a touch of fall to this summery frock. As a college student, I love to add dresses to my wardrobe. They make for the perfect go-to piece for gamedays, dinners, and anything in between. You can totally take your favorite summer dresses into fall by layering. I personally love denim jackets, denim vests, and crochet cardigans as key layering pieces. If your style is more on the casual and comfy side, graphic tees are a must. I fell in love with this sassy ‘gimmie the guac’ tee (any other HUGE guac fans up in here?), and I just couldn’t resist picking it up. I paired it with flowy black shorts and flatforms, but you could totally pair it with jeans + sandals for an easy, but cute look!

Let me know what you are looking forward to this school year!

xoxo,
Mackenzie

P.S. Here are a few more ‘back to school’ pieces from AE that I loovvee:

fringe booties

lace up sandals (I own these!)

open knit sweater

classic denim jacket

ribbed hi neck dress

drapey burnout tee

‘taco’ pocket tshirt

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!

nordstrom sale | www.mackenziekendall.com

Hello friends! The yearly Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is a shopping addict’s favorite time of year. For me specifically, it’s the best time to get some last-minute summer goodies & stock up on fall time essentials. Summer is my favorite clothing season, but as fall approaches, I can’t suppress my excitement for autumn shoes- specifically booties. I headed to the Nordstrom in Palo Alto on a mission to find these booties (pictured above). And boy, do I love them so, so much. They are not only comfortable, but I find myself pairing them with everything from flowy shorts and breezy swing dresses. Come fall, they will be the perfect with my long sleeve rompers and denim basics.

Here are some pieces from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale that I have been loovvinngg:

reversible bikini top // elisa pendant necklace // off shoulder chambray dress // twist front top (love it in black) // over the knee boots // ‘avery’ crossbody bag // ankle leggings

Along with my new fave kicks & wish-list picks [definitely did not mean for that to rhyme lol], here are some of my other Nordstrom Anniversary Sale pieces I have had my eye on:

Happy Wednesday! If you live in/are visiting the Bay Area on a Sunday, the Presidio Picnic is an absolute must-do in the summer time. My parents were in town this weekend, so I had to drag them to my favorite semi hidden-gem in the city, the Presidio Picnic. With tons of local food trucks, a gorgeous view of the Golden Gate Bridge, and a bustling, charming atmosphere, this outdoor picnic is the perfect way to enjoy your Sunday! My favorite food truck? Grilled Cheez Guy. If you’re a grown-adult, grilled cheese addict like me, you’ll be in heaven!

Hello, hello! I hope that you all had a wonderful 4th of July weekend! The 4th of July is definitely one of my very favorite holidays of the year. It was so nice to spend the weekend in Laguna with my family, eating hamburgers and exploring the city! My parents are going to be in the bay area this weekend, so it will be really nice to enjoy two weekends in a row with them.

Let me know what you did for the 4th of July!

Beach or mountains?“, my mom asked my dad as we made the hike up the hill after watching last night’s gorgeous seaside sunset. “Beach. 100%”, my dad answered with no hesitation at all. “Same! Definitely beach”, I told them. “Nobody asked you, Mackenzie. We all already knew that one!”.

If I could live at the beach every day, salt in my hair, watching a gorgeous sunset every evening, I would be the world’s most content human-being. I am so thankful for summer nights spent with views of the ocean and great conversations with my favorite people.

P.S. how cute are my parents?! #goals
